I’m creating this public porfolio in an effort to transparently show the effects of compounding gains. I will be Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) into ETFs and record the results for anyone to see. If I veer away from the core principles of DCA in this portfolio, I’ll probably post a blog article outlining my reasoning.

When approaching topics like DCA Investing over the long term, I think it is easy to get lost in hypothetical returns. In the end, even if we understand that the strategy can generate good returns and help reduce timing risk, it’s still often underutilised or discarded completely.

Maybe it’s because it sounds boring (it is), or we think it will take too long to generate us any meaningful returns, or maybe we think we can time the market better than simply setting an arbitrary date to buy every month or quarter.

Whatever the case may be, I hope that creating this public portfolio will showcase that this very simple strategy works. It also has the added benefit of forcing me to be consistent in my own application of this strategy.

This portfolio will see ups and downs. That’s okay. This is a long term game.

The first investment for this portfolio will be made on 22 Feb 2024.
